Mountain Lake Community
We also have tennis courts, a swimming pool and 4 community beaches. During our summer program from late June to Labor Day, we have lifeguards on duty and our snack bar is open. We also have a softball field, volleyball court, and children's playground along with horseshoe pits, picnic tables with umbrellas, and barbecue grills.
We have canoes, kayaks, and row boats available for rent. Non-motorized boats that have been in other bodies of water are welcome in Mountain Lakes waters, but they do need to be washed at the boat washing station before putting them in our lakes (staff members will assist in cleaning your boats). Any type of motorized boats or other craft are expressly forbidden from the lakes and beaches.
There will be passes at the cabin that need to be displayed in your vehicle when at the beach or pool. Please leave the passes at the cabin when you leave so they are there for the next guests to use.
Other Swimming Holes
If you want a traditional beach area you can go to Forest Lake State Park in Whitefield or Echo Lake near Cannon, both charge entrance fees. Echo Lake also has boat rentals. For more out of the way spots you need to be a bit more adventurous and this is where water shoes come in handy.
Big Eddy Swimming Hole (very close):
Swimming hole in the Wild Ammonoosuc. Take a left on route 112 (Kancamagus Highway) follow rte 112 til you see a building with a Swiftwater sign – look for Porter Road on the right – go over covered bridge and take immediate left into parking area.
Other Places worth exploring
Go into downtown Littleton, take the river walk and stop at Miller’s Café for lunch where you can sit on the outdoor terrace over the rushing Ammonoosuc River. Sunday mornings June thru October is the Littleton Farmers Market with organic produce, crafts, homemade goods, etc. The town of Bethlehem has antiques shops, gourmet dining, and the Colonial theater (art house movies in the evening and a summertime children’s theater matinees). For romantic dining you may want to try the Sugar Hill Inn or The Sunset Hill House in Sugar Hill (www.sunsethillhouse.com).
